Imagine what it must have been like for Deborah, on of the Judges in the book that bears that name. She was a strong woman in an even stronger male dominated culture. However, with great courage, she called on Barak to fight the enemies to the north. Her courage was anchored in her conviction that God had called them to fight their enemies. And because God had called, she left all the other stuff behind.
Followers respect a leader who demonstrates courage based on conviction. They follow leaders who are confident they can reach their God-given destination. It is a key reason a follower is willing to take a journey with a leader.
